The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas dressed up for the main showdown between Canelo Álvarez and Caleb Plant. However, the preliminary fights are already developing and the Dominican Elvis Rodríguez was one of the first protagonists, after beating the Mexican Juan Pablo ‘Pivi’ Romero by KO.

The fight was agreed to 10 rounds and had had an even development, but only in the middle was the winner determined. Both boxers made showy combinations of blows, until at one point, during the fifth round, they went head to head, exploding the spirits of the public who arrived at the imposing venue.

The ‘Pivi’ Romero tried to be more aggressive, attacking from the outside, although that left him with a fragile defensive posture. Elvis Rodríguez was taking advantage of that detail, hitting directly in the face of his rival with his left fist. He was already giving announcements of the way in which he wanted to end the fight.

The blows came and went, but it was obvious that the Mexican was the most affected, showing noticeable physical wear. And with only five seconds remaining until the end of the round, Rodríguez found the space to deliver his explosive punch: he opened his opponent’s defense with his right and finished with his left foot.
