David Faitelson was once again in the ‘eye of the storm’ after issuing a controversial opinion on his Twitter account about Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez. After the victory of the Mexican against Caleb Plant and becoming the first unified super middleweight champion, the journalist affirmed that “Canelo is not the best boxer in the world pound by pound.”

Mexican Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez knocked out American Caleb Plant on Saturday night and became the first undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history.

Álvarez, 31, sent the American to the canvas in the eleventh round of the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (Nevada) before 16,586 fans supported the Mexican mostly.

Big betting favorite ‘Canelo’ snatched the IBF belt from Plant and joined the three he already owned from the WBA, WBC and WBO in the 168-pound (76.2kg) category.

Only five male fighters, none of them Mexican, had managed to simultaneously own all four belts of boxing’s governing bodies since this feat became possible in 1988.
