Xavi confirmed that he rejected Brazil: “They wanted me to be Tite’s assistant, but my dream was Barcelona”

Xavi was officially introduced as the new coach of the FC Barcelona and in his first press conference he revealed little-known information: the Brazilian Football Federation tried to hire him for the current Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. Xavi Hernández attracted 9,422 spectators at the Camp Nou this Monday morning in his presentation as Barcelona’s new coach after his return to the club of his life became official at dawn from Friday to Saturday and, together with President Joan Laporta, he encouraged to sing songs with the Barça fans who cheered him on more than one occasion.

Laporta was the first to pick up the microphone to join in the song ‘Un dia de partit’ (A game day), while raising his arms to further encourage some supporters already committed to the cause. And Xavi, visibly moved, ended up adding to the moment of euphoria.

“I am very excited, I do not want to get excited, this reception from the fans is impressive,” admitted Xavi, whose eyes ended up getting wet in the end.

The fans, equipped with flags in the Barça and ‘senyera’ colors that were distributed around the stadium, filled the second and third stands of the Camp Nou tribune and part of the second of the north goal. The almost 10,000 tickets were purchased mostly by young fans.
