Boxing is a sport that generates a lot of expectations in Mexico and this time it will have a Peruvian as the main protagonist. During the last hours, it was learned that David ‘Pantera’ Zegarra will jump into the ring to face Julio César Chávez Jr., during an event that will take place in the city of Culiacán.

JD Promotions was in charge of revealing the news through its official channels, generating a lot of expectation in Aztec land. According to the statement, the fight will take place on December 18, exactly one month from now, at the Palenque of the Cattle Fair in the state of Sinaloa.

This fight will not have any title in dispute, but will serve to give both boxers a shot, who will clearly seek a positive result for their personal record. Let us remember that the ‘Pantera’ Zegarra (37 years old) has had 40 fights, reaping 34 victories (21 by KO) and six defeats (five by KO).

It is worth mentioning that the last presentation of the Peruvian boxer was before Ali Akhmedov of Kazakhstan in California last September, which ended in defeat: Zegarra did not go out to the fourth round and his fall was consummated by abandonment. Until now, it cost him a lot every time he was out of Peru.

For his part, the controversial Julio César Chávez Jr. is not at his best either, so he aspires to a victory to raise his career again. The last time he appeared in a ring was on June 19 in Jalisco, when he fell to Brazilian Anderson Silva. At 35, the Mexican boxer seeks to add as many fights as possible to find bigger challenges in the near future.
