Organ of the FPF indicated that Mathias Carpio was well registered in Cienciano and a resolution would change the fate of Cusco FC

The Chamber of Conciliation and Dispute Resolution of the Peruvian Football Federation issued an official note on November 17 to inform the decision taken regarding the case of Mathias Carpio, who would have been irregularly registered as a new Cienciano footballer.

The mentioned body resolved “Admit the player’s request and have his registration as a club Cienciano player formalized as of July 25 of the current year”, detail the document to close this issue.

With that resolution, the situation in League 1 could undergo some modifications, especially on the issue of relegation. A few months ago, Cusco FC filed a claim about Cienciano for the bad registration of Mathias Carpio.

The ‘Papá’ and Cusco FC drew 2-2 during a match developed in August for Phase 2. After the complaint, the Disciplinary Commission decided to declare Cusco FC the winner of the commitment and award the three points of that contest.

Later, Cienciano filed an appeal, but it was denied. In this sense, the accumulated table of the 2021 season left Cusco FC at the end of the competition with a total of 25 units and with the place assured to play the next campaign.

However, the winner of the 2003 Copa Sudamericana considers taking this case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS for its French acronym of Tribunal Arbitral du Sport). During the process, it will be key to present as proof the resolution that admits Carpio as a Cienciano footballer.

Eventually, if the TAS agrees with Cienciano, Cusco FC will automatically lose two points in the accumulated and will go from 25 to 23 units. In such a scenario, it would occupy the penultimate box of the table and thus descend to League 2.

There is more, since the situations of the San Martín and Binacional University (affected third parties) will remain in the air. Faced with the aforementioned figure (the subtraction of points from Cusco FC), the ‘Powerful of the South’ should not have played the revalidation against Carlos Stein, but the ‘Santos’.
