The Peruvian team can start 2022 by facing two friendly preparation matches with the intention of arriving in good shape for the qualifying matches against Colombia (visit) and Ecuador (local). In this sense, Ricardo Gareca gave the green light for the board to take charge of the corresponding procedures.
What’s more, La Blanquirroja is already targeting the two potential opponents for those matches. According to information from the newspaper Depor, the national cast will be measured against representatives who were in the last World Cup in Russia 2018.
The first is the team from Iceland, a sensation team in the last round of national teams and that showed significant football growth in recent years. The other is the Panama team, in which an acquaintance is usually summoned: Alberto Quintero, forward of the Sports University.
It is projected that the Peruvian team will face these matches in the second week of next January, with tentative dates on the 9th and 12th of that month. With this, it would not intersect with the start of the new season of League 1, whose date will be 14.
The main option of the technical command led by Ricardo Gareca will be to give minutes of high competition to the local players, who will enter an important one for soccer, after finishing this season in the Peruvian championship.
