The situation of the Brazilian idol is complicated. Soccer superstar Pelé was hospitalized to undergo treatment for a colon tumor, the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo announced on Wednesday.

According to the hospital statement, Pele, 81, is “continuing” his treatment, due to the same discomfort that afflicted him. It was also confirmed that his condition is positive, stable and should be discharged in the next few days.

It should be noted that the former Brazilian national team, considered by many the best soccer player of all time – since he usually shares with Maradona – and three times world champion with the Brazilian team, had undergone surgery at the beginning of September by the same condition.

Pelé had spoken last month through his official Twitter account where he stated that he was “fine” and even felt better “every day.” Now, all that remains is to wait for his speedy recovery.

Lionel Messi beat Pelé

Lionel Messi is a football legend. In his last match in 2021 in the Champions League, he beat the record of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé. With his two goals against Bruges, the Argentine surpassed the Brazilian legend in official goals.

The Argentine forward reached 758 goals throughout his career. He surpasses Pelé who managed to score 757. At 34, Lionel Messi has a few seasons to continue increasing his numbers.
