“It is essential to defeat Peru at home,” says the president of the Colombian Football Federation Ramón Jesurún. In the qualifying visits to Colombia, Peru has not had good results except for the one achieved in 1997, with the 1-0 victory precisely in Barranquilla with the remembered goal of José Pereda. Also remembered is the 5-0 fall of 2005, in the same city.
