Midfielder James Rodríguez was finally able to return to the courts, although he did not perform well with Al-Rayyan, in the defeat against Qatar SC, on date 10 of the QSL. Despite not having been a starter, circumstances helped the Colombian player to accumulate 79 minutes in this presentation in Doha.

The day was difficult for the former Real Madrid player’s club, so Laurent Blanc analyzed the best strategy to achieve victory. In principle, the coach decided to leave the South American star on the substitute bench, but he had no other option to send him to the field at 11 ′.

Hashim Ali Abdullatif left the field and James Rodríguez was admitted, who was returning to the activity with Al-Rayyan after almost two months. The last time he defended the team was on October 30, in the 2-1 loss to Al Arabi, on matchday 8 of the QSL. After that, he did not participate in the Qatar Cup, as he was not registered.

Let us remember that that match, the skilled player had been sent off in the final minutes, due to his strong reaction against the referee, for which he was facing a harsh sanction. Although it was speculated that he would not be in the fields until next year, he finally received the corresponding permit.

Precisely, the inactivity disadvantaged James Rodríguez, who was not very participative against Qatar SC and could not do much to avoid the 1-0 loss of Al-Rayyan, who already has three trips in a row, only has nine points and he is very far from the possibility of fighting for the title (Al-Sadd is leader with 25 units).

However, the return of the talented midfielder could be key to overcome the bad moment in the next dates. In addition, the Colombian national team welcomes the news, given that the double date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers is coming: at the end of January with Peru and the beginning of February against Argentina.
