The Copa del Rey is an attractive tournament for all fans in Spain, since a team of promotion could surprise one of the highest division. Precisely, this Wednesday a new chapter was written within those historical pages: Atlético Baleares, from Primera RFEF (third division), eliminated Celta de Vigo, from LaLiga Santander.

The result caused a lot of surprise and the comparisons, due to the cost of each template, did not take long to come out. In this sense, the Peruvian Renato Tapia was one of those indicated, since he played the first 45 minutes with the ‘Celestes’ and was the most expensive athlete who appeared at the Balearic Stadium in Palma de Mallorca.

According to the parallelism used by the Argentine media, based on the Transfermarkt figures, the ‘Cabezón’ is valued at 15 million euros, which represents exactly three times the total cost of the Atlético Baleares squad. The most expensive player of the modest team is Dioni, who is priced at 500 thousand euros.

In addition, the difference between the expenses between one and another club was more than evident, when it was known that the Celta de Vigo squad reaches 121.2 million euros. The investment of the ‘Celeste’ board of directors to have a leading role, as in the Copa del Rey, has not yet borne fruit.

The painful defeat of Celta de Vigo

In the previous match, Celta de Vigo was considered the favorite to advance to the round of 16, but coach Eduardo Coudet’s collective system did not work during the first half. Atlético Baleares took the opportunity to gain an advantage through José Manuel Martínez, just in the 17th minute.

For the second half, the strategist made four changes immediately and figures such as Santi Mina or Brais Méndez entered, who precisely scored the partial tie (67 ′). However, the ‘Baleáricos’ responded well to the demand and Martínez (76 ′) consummated his double. Let us remember that it is not the first time that they have eliminated a first division team, given that in the previous round they had beaten Getafe 5-0.
