“The Professional Soccer League in coordination with the Board of Directors of the Peruvian Soccer Federation, has decided to postpone the start of League 1 to Thursday, February 3”, reads the statement posted on social networks.

It should be noted that, for the moment, the games would be played without an audience. At least, the provinces that are within the “High Alert” they will not have the fans in the stadiums. We’ll see if that changes over the days.

The coronavirus does not only attack Peru, it is also hitting the whole world. However, each country treats this pandemic differently. The same thing happens in professional soccer tournaments.

In Argentina, the cases of contagion by COVID-19 are constantly increasing. During these days, more than 100,000 coronavirus infections arrived for the first time, an absolute record for the entire pandemic. This has caused concern and put the start of the Professional League on hold.
