Ricardo Gareca: “A victory is enjoyed one day and we have to think about the next game”

His thinking is clear. The Peruvian National Team said goodbye to 2021 with good results in their duels for the South American Qualifiers towards Qatar 2022 and, now, they hope to maintain the same harvest of victories; However, Ricardo Gareca is aware that he must think little by little, game by game.

The Argentine strategist knows that the emotional aspect can be decisive in a match. Even more so, if this is part of such a short competition, such as the South American qualifiers that provide four and a half places for the next World Cup event.

Although Ricardo Gareca works on it, he considers it essential that the Peruvian National Team shortens the recovery time (after a defeat) and the celebration time (after a victory), since this can increase the concentration of its leaders to face much better the challenges that are being placed in front of him.

“Everything takes time. A victory is enjoyed one day and you have to think about the next game and get away from that euphoria. In a loss, the same. How much can we mourn? 24 hours or 48 hours is enough. Afterwards, you have to get up emotionally because this does not give you respite “, said the ‘Tigre’ in FPF Play.

Gareca on the new government measures

Ricardo Gareca once again headed a training session for the Peruvian National Team at La Videna. after the last workout, he stopped to answer a couple of questions. In this sense, the DT referred to the new government regulations that are related to football, precisely in the influx of stadiums.

“Yes you have to respect them, there is no other, but I do not agree, but you have to respect them”, expressed the ‘Tigre’ Gareca in clear allusion to that, from January 7 to 16 of the same month, the stadiums will not be able to receive public in the stands. That is to say, the friendly of La Blanquirroja against Panama (Sunday 16) will be behind closed doors.
