Sérgio Conceição, coach of Porto, made his son play and he scored the winning goal | VIDEO

Coach Sérgio Conceição came to the Porto bench in 2017, where he had shone as a player, and managed to raise the level of the club, reaping the Portuguese League titles in 2018 and 2020. Now, the coach seeks to lead again his team to glory and this weekend he celebrated a key victory, against Estoril, thanks to an agonizing goal from his son.

At 19 years old, Francisco Conceição has been gaining continuity at the club throughout the current 2021-22 season, due to his father’s confidence in his work as manager. And last Saturday, the athlete entered to play the last four minutes at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, when his team had reacted and leveled the score 2-2, with goals from Mehdi Taremi (49 ′) and Luis Díaz (84 ′ ).

Since he jumped onto the pitch, the young midfielder was unsteady and ended up becoming the hero of the day against Estoril. Due to the obligation of the ‘Dragons’ to obtain the three points, they did not stop attacking and generated a clear goal opportunity at 89′, when the end was very close.

On the left wing, the Colombian Luis Díaz overflowed and took a low cross into the small area, where Francisco Conceição appeared precisely to inflate the nets and place the 3-2. It was the player’s first goal in the Portuguese League and he celebrated it in a special way: after taking off his shirt, he looked for his father-coach to hug him.

The strategist Sérgio Conceição found his son, amid the euphoria over the comeback, and showed tender gestures of affection, which went viral in a short time. The scene on this occasion was very special, given the event and the negative circumstances that the team was experiencing, but it was not the first time that both star in this type of celebration.

On November 20, Porto beat Feirense 5-1 in the Taca de Portugal and Francisco Conceição, who completed the 90 minutes, scored the last goal, from a penalty. After inflating the nets, he also went to his father to hug him, although at that moment, due to the tranquility of the result, the effusiveness was not the same.

It is worth mentioning that Francisco Conceição has 12 games in the current Portuguese championship, while he added another three games in cups (Taca da Liga and Taca de Portugal) and had two appearances in the Champions League.

How is Porto doing in the Portuguese League?

The Portuguese League has already played 17 games and the current leader of the tournament is Porto, which has 47 points. The closest chase in search of the title is Sporting Club, which has 44 points and lost the option of being on the lead due to the defeat against Santa Clara (3-2) this weekend.
