Confirmed date for River-Boca, the Superclásico of the Professional League Cup

Next month the 2022 edition of the Professional League Cup will start. This Tuesday the fixture draw for the new season took place in Argentina and, as expected, local fans and from around the world are anxiously waiting to know when the training between River Plate and Boca Juniors will take place.

The commitment between the most important clubs in this country will be on March 20 at the Monumental stadium on matchday seven. Precisely, this date will have a particularity, since the calendar indicates that during that weekend all the traditional confrontations will take place: Rosario-Newell’s, Independiente-Racing, Gymnastics-Students, among others.

There is one more detail, focusing only on River and Boca, both teams will meet twice in less than five days. According to the AFA calendar, the ‘Millionaires’ and the ‘Xeneizes’ will define the winner of the Super Cup on March 16. The schedule and stadium for this Superclásico are still unknown, but that’s another story.

Returning to the domestic championship, the Professional League Cup will have the participation of 28 clubs that have been divided into Zone A and Zone B. In this round they will face everyone against everyone and, the aforementioned, there will be interzonal crossings on the ‘date of classics’ during the seventh day.

In addition, the best four in each group will advance to a single-match knockout round in which the highest ranked will be local. While the semifinals and the grand final will be on neutral ground to meet the 2022 champion in a year that will have the Qatar 2022 World Cup in November. Thus, the championship will begin next Friday, February 11.
