The starting goalkeeper of the Colombian team, David Ospina, suffered a muscle contracture in his left leg, Napoli reported in a report that set off the alarms in the coffee team two weeks before the match against Peru for Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. Given this, the strategist Reinaldo Rueda gave his opinion on what happened.

Ospina left at the end of the first half of the match that Napoli lost 5-2 on Thursday against Fiorentina for the Italian Cup and initially the team reported a soreness in the left calf.

But this Saturday the Italian club said on its Twitter account that the goalkeeper “tests were performed that revealed a contracture in his left leg.”

The part set off the alarms in the Colombian team because it is a key player in the team led by coach Reinaldo Rueda for the next matches against Peru and Argentina for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.

Napoli did not reveal details of Ospina’s disability, nor did he report whether he will be able to recover for the next two games with the national team.

Reinaldo Rueda stated that he was confident that the starting goalkeeper David Ospina could be part of the next call for the qualifying matches.

“Fortunately, the MRI gave a good result. There was no rupture, just a strong contracture. It is necessary to avoid that he plays in the middle of the week and that he does so the weekend before the call”, he indicated.

Colombia will face Peru on January 28, in Barranquilla, and then will visit Argentina, in Córdoba, on February 1, two key matches to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
