A chapter full of controversy was experienced in the Copa del Rey during the weekend. The Seville derby, starring Real Betis and Sevilla, was played last Saturday, but had to be abruptly suspended after 39 minutes, due to the aggression of the fans against Joan Jordán, after Nabil Fekir’s Olympic goal, in the 1-1 part of the ‘Beticos’.

The midfielder of the ‘Nervionense’ team was hit in the head by an element thrown from the stands and ended up lying on the grass. Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, referee of the match, observed the scene closely, immediately requested medical assistance and finally decided to postpone the match.

After that provision, the RFEF, organizer of the Copa del Rey, announced that the actions will be completed this Sunday. The Real Betis players accepted the determination, but some were critical of Joan Jordán, considering that he exaggerated, unleashing controversy.

After the break, the ‘Béticos’ imposed conditions with a goal from Sergio Canales and the classification was completed, situations that caused great joy in the squad. However, there was controversy again during the celebrations, this time with the Mexican Andrés Guardado as the protagonist.

As could be seen in the images, the experienced midfielder took a bottle, threw it at his head and threw himself on the grass, as if he had lost consciousness. Immediately, the scene was highly criticized, since it was considered a mockery of what happened with Joan Jordán.

Due to the great wave of criticism, André Guardado decided to speak out on his social networks regarding the subject. “Seville is verdiblanca! I want to clarify that at no time am I making fun of Jordán. An event has been experienced that should not be experienced on a football field, which is unfortunate and a shame”, he explained.
