Goalkeeper Sangaré learned of the death of his father, after playing with the Ivory Coast

Goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangaré has experienced terrible circumstances in recent hours, both personally and in sports. During the Ivory Coast vs. Sierra Leone, played last Sunday, the goalkeeper did not have his best performance: he was injured and, after a miscalculation, allowed the rival to score the equalizer (2-2).

Hours later, after being treated for the discomfort in his knee, the athlete was notified of terrible news: his father lost his life. The information was shared by the organization of the national team tournament in Africa, causing deep sorrow in the fans.

“Our hearts go out to Ivory Coast national team goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangaré who lost his father. stay strong”, was the statement by the African Cup of Nations through Twitter. Immediately, the fans expressed messages of condolences to the footballer.

For now, the magnitude of the Ivorian player’s injury is not known, but, also considering his unfortunate loss, he could miss the last date against Algeria, which is scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 20.

How was Sangaré injured?

Côte d’Ivoire won 2-1 over Sierra Leone, thanks to goals from Sébastien Haller and Nicolas Pépé, and secured their place in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations. However, in one of the last plays of the match (93′), goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangaré dashed down the right side of his area, seeking to avoid a corner, after his teammate’s header.

As it could be seen, the goalkeeper fell badly, injured his knee and dropped the ball, leaving an advantage for Steven Caulker, who took a cross back and Alhaji Kamara inflated the nets for the Sierra Leonean draw 2-2. After what happened, the Ivorian winger Serge Aurier had to get under the three posts in the last moments.
