The Peruvian team continues with its preparation for the next double date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers and this Thursday it defeated Jamaica in a friendly match (3-0). The team led by Ricardo Gareca showed an improvement collectively, compared to what was seen against Panama, although that did not prevent Pedro Gallese from being one of the figures.

The goalkeeper was again vital with his interventions under the three posts to prevent the rival goal and, after the end of the match, he analyzed what happened on the field of the National Stadium. “The attitude changed and it was also a different atmosphere with the presence of the fans, that’s good”, explained the Orlando City player.

Hopefully we can have more fans, because the public is always important to us. I think that Colombia, Argentina or Chile play with 100% when they are local and that would be good for this team. Hopefully there can be more capacity and that we have that support”, added the goalkeeper.

Then, Pedro Gallese highlighted the result and the improvement of the team. “We played good football, we entered from all sides. During the first time maybe it cost us a little, but we grew. It was important to have this performance, to go to Barranquilla with confidence. Now the other teammates will join and here we are well focused”, he highlighted.

Finally, he did not miss the opportunity of the appearance of new players within the squad. “Luis Iberico and Jairo Concha played a good game, I also liked the attitude of Renzo Garcés and Gianfranco Chávez, who came in to order the people”, sentenced the goalkeeper.

When does Peru play in the Qualifiers?

The Peruvian team will face Colombia next Friday, February 28, in Barranquilla, on the 15th date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. This will be a key duel, given that both representatives arrive even with 17 points, although the ‘Coffee Growers’ are in the fourth place for best goal difference. After the aforementioned match, Peru will receive Ecuador in Lima (Tuesday, February 1).
