The Peruvian team is getting ready for the next double date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, in which it will have to face Colombia (Friday, January 28) and Ecuador (Tuesday, February 1). Last Friday, coach Ricardo Gareca announced the final squad list and players from abroad are joining little by little.

This Sunday, André Carrillo arrived in Lima, after leaving Saudi Arabia, and in the next few hours he will attend Videna, to train with the rest of the “Blanquirroja” squad. The skillful winger on the right is one of the fixtures in the ‘Tiger’ scheme for the important duels to come.

Let us remember that the last game that the ‘Culebra’ played with Al-Hilal, his team, was on Friday, January 21, for the Saudi Professional League: he started as a starter and added 79 minutes in the draw against Al Batin (1-1) .

The aforementioned meeting was the fourth that André Carrillo played this year (third in a row as a starter) and will arrive at a good pace for the matches with Peru, unlike what happened at the end of 2021: the triple date of October was missed due to injury and was able to participate in the November doubleheader, despite his lack of activity.

In this way, the squad of 30 soccer players mentioned in the Peruvian team will be formed, with the appearance of members who come from foreign leagues. During the last Saturday, Luis Advíncula and Carlos Zambrano, both from Boca Juniors, were the first to join the concentration.

André Carrillo’s goalscoring drought

The start of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers was brilliant for André Carrillo, given that he scored a brace against Paraguay and inflated the nets once against Brazil, on the first and second dates respectively. However, he did not celebrate any more goals in the next nine games he played. On the other hand, in 2021, in the 2-1 win against Venezuela on the visit, the ‘Culebra’ gave his only assistance in the qualifying process.
