Pedro Aquino was confirmed as a sensitive drop from the Peruvian team with a view to the matches against Colombia and Ecuador for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. The news not only generated lament in this part of the world, but also in Mexico, or in America to be more accurate.

“He will have to return and the medical staff will have to assess it. Hopefully it’s nothing or it’s mild. He is a very important player on the squad and, recently, we haven’t had good experiences”, said the coach of the Peruvian team, Santiago Solari, at a press conference.

The Argentine strategist recalled the previous time that Aquino suffered an injury last year, a situation that prevented the footballer from participating in the final stretch of the 2021 Opening of Liga MX and the final of the Concacaf Champions League.

“It has been hard not having him in the decisive phase, in the league phase last semester and in the Concachampions final. It was a very hard drop. Let’s hope he’s okay and if he’s not, we’ll fix it up and race as best we can without him.” Solari added.

On the other hand, the president of the ‘Eagles’, Santiago Baños, confirmed Aquino’s return to Aztec lands: “He is about to return, he has already spoken with the Peruvian Football Federation. He will be arriving in Mexico soon to do his necessary tests and see how serious the injury is.”

In the morning hours of this Wednesday, the Peruvian team announced that Pedro Aquino, signed by América in January 2021, left the call “for medical reasons”.
