Instagram changes its algorithm to give more visibility to content creators

Instagram has announced the change of its algorithm to prioritize the publications of original content creators and give them “all the credit they deserve” on the platform, along with other new features in the labels that will help them gain relevance.

The boss of Instagram, Adam Mosserihas announced on his profile Twitter that content creators are “so important to the future of Instagram” that its app wants to make sure it gives them visibility.

Mosseri explains that those who believe something “right from the start”, instead of sharing what someone else has done, they should get “all the credit they deserve.” For this reason, the social network has changed its algorithm to prioritize in sections such as ‘Reels’ videos that do not contain third-party watermarks or come from external applications, such as TikTok.

The head of Instagram has also recalled other recently implemented measures aimed at promoting original content, such as the labeling of brands and products, which can now be used by the entire user base of the application.

They have also improved personal labels so that users of the social network can make themselves known through them. To do so, you will be allowed to edit your account to add categories to it based on your professions and activities.

these categories will appear next to the user’s name that has been tagged in a post to help you gain relevance on the platform, so that next to your name, characteristics such as ‘photographer’, ‘rapper’ or ‘fashion stylist’ will also be indicated.
