Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2022: the awards for young innovators from Latin America open calls

MIT Technology Review in Spanish launches the call for the Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2022 (IU35) awards, aimed at young people under 35 who are entrepreneurs and innovators in Latin America and who are using technology creatively to solve big problems of humanity.

“We are very excited that the number one event in innovation and technology on a Latin American scale, organized by MIT, will be held for the first time in Peru. This initiative has several objectives: the first, to show Peru as a country that is seriously committed to innovation as an engine for development and growth; the second, delocalize and democratize knowledge; and the third, to serve as a channel to attract and showcase the innovative talent of the region that, using technology as a vehicle, intends to change industries, businesses and experiences, generating an impact on society and their countries. This year, the eighth edition of the Innovators Under 35 LATAM awards is sponsored by various institutions such as Credicorp, Grupo UNACEM, SGS, NTT Data and Niubiz, as well as allied collaborating entities such as the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) and newspaper Trade.

What information do candidates need to know to apply for the IU35 awards?

Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2022 aims to recognize innovation: the development of new technologies or the creative application of existing technologies to solve problems or add value, with a positive and visible impact on society. Candidates, under 35 years of age as of December 31, 2022, must have a project or enterprise with an MVP (minimum viable product) related to one of the following areas of innovation: biotechnology and medicine; artificial intelligence and robotics; software; energy and sustainability; internet and web; electronics and hardware; transport; nanotechnology and materials; and telecommunications.

More than 500 candidates are nominated each year and their work is evaluated by our panel of judges, who choose the list of 35 winners that will be published by MIT Technology Review. The evaluation criteria that the jury will take into account are the following: impact of the project, validity of the innovative proposal, ingenuity, audacity and communication skills of the candidate.
