Elon Musk buys Twitter: the businessman has lost more than US $ 12,000 million

Elon Musk spent all Wednesday Twitter Inc.announcing his political switch from Democrat to Republican, trashing the ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) criteria, and responding to various users of the social media platform he agreed to buy.

In the meantime, Tesla Inc. fell to the lowest level this year, erasing $ 12.3 billion from its assetswhile Twitter further extended its decline.

In total, Musk has lost $ 49,000 million since he launched his offer on Twitter last month, in part because the broader market tanked, as some Tesla investors worried about how it would finance its bid for the social media giant.

Musk, 50, remains the world’s richest person, with a fortune of $209.9 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. So far this year he has cut $60.4 billion from his wealth, behind only Binance’s Chang Peng Zhao, who has lost $81 billion, and Jeff Bezos with $62 billion.

Musk has become increasingly vocal since launching his $44 billion offer on Twitter. Wednesday was no exception. He tweeted that the ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) criteria were “a scam” after Tesla lost its place in an S&P Global index that tracks companies on their environmental, social and governance standards.

He also predicted that “political attacks” against him would “increase dramatically in the coming months.”

In a separate tweet, Musk said he had supported the Democrats in the past because “they were (mostly) the party of kindness” but has now changed his mind. “They have become the party of division and hate, so I can no longer support them and I will vote Republican,” he said.
