The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has reaffirmed its intention to recover next year the celebration of the video game fair E3with an event that will combine both physical and digital presence.
E3 has been considered for years the main event of the year for the video game sector, the stage where the main players -development studios and publishing companies- showed the news that would hit the market in the following months and the projects they were working on .
The organization has already canceled the 2020 edition due to the coronavirus pandemic, and in 2021 it opted for an exclusively virtual format. This year, however, it has been completely cancelled, although ESA assured in April that it will return next year.

“We are excited to return in 2023, with an event both digital and in person,” said the president and CEO of the organization, Stan Pierre-Louis, in statements to The Washington Post collected by Europa Press.
“As much as we love these digital events, and as much as people reach out and want this global reach, we also know there’s a strong desire for people to come together, be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what’s happening. that makes games great”, added the director.

Pierre-Louis does not deny the role of digital events in the promotion of companies, but believes that “there is a space for a physical show” just as “it is important to have digital reach”. “Combining those two, I think there’s a critical element of what we think E3 can provide,” he concludes.
Despite the lack of E3 this year, Microsoft and Capcom have announced the celebration of two events on the dates that the video game fair usually takes place.
