Samsung: new security patch allows you to access Samsung Pay from any ‘smartphone’

Samsung has fixed the problem where users of ‘smartphones’ not manufactured by the Korean brand could not access the application with their ID SamsungPay through a new security patch.

Several users have reported in recent days that they were unable to log in to this credit card storage and contactless payment service, an error that seemed to be due to the fact that their devices were not of the Samsung brand.

Unlike other platforms for the same purpose, such as Apple Pay -which requires a device of the brand, such as an Apple Watch or an iPhone-, this service developed by Samsung Electronics can be used on devices of other brands.

This is possible in all those devices that present the near field communication chipbetter known as NFC, which allows payments to be made securely with the ‘smartphone’ by bringing the device close to a dataphone.

However, owners of smartphones other than those of the Korean manufacturer have reported that, when they want to access the platform, they receive a message notifying them that their identification is invalid.

It has been both through Reddit and through the Samsung Community where those affected have shared screenshots of the error, which has persisted for a few days and would be included in the latest application update.

One of these users would have had this problem with the Google Pixel 6 Pro model and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which would not have put an end to the error by restarting the device or resetting it.

Although it is true that the Samsung support website indicates that this service can be used on a non-Samsung phone as long as it works with Android 6.0 or later versions.

The Asian company has confirmed to Europa Press that it has released a patch to correct this error and that mobile users of brands other than Samsung should be able to access the platform correctly.
