Character.ai is a chatbot from artificial intelligence that allows you to talk to celebrities like Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Albert Einstein, among others. It was created by two former members of the team that created LaMDA, Google’s controversial AI.
Character.ai is a chatbot created by Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, former Googlers who helped create LaMDA. The users they can “chat” with real or fictional personalities and ask them questions. Character.ai will respond by mimicking what Trump or Einstein himself is supposed to say. Also you can create a new character to chat with.

“There were reports of possible voter fraud and he wanted an investigation” is what “Trump” replied in the chatbot. In all conversations, Character.ai reminds the user that all answers are fake and not from real celebrities.

The AI went through a public beta stage for three weeks, during which multiple users signed up. It is currently suspended while they resolve what was found in the beta. “There is a lot of work here and we anticipate that maintenance will continue for at least a couple of days.”, they write on the official website of the chatbot.
As you may recall, LaMDA is an intelligent chatbot that made headlines when a Google employee declared that the AI had gained consciousness and emotions, but was later fired. Shazeer and De Freitas left Google with the motivation of share AI chatbots with everyone, instead of keeping it a secret.
