WhatsApp is developing a feature to indicate to users that a message has been edited by its sender, by means of a label that will appear next to the modified text after it has been sent.
The company has been working on this functionality for months, which will allow the editing of your text messages, as reported by WABetaInfo last June. WhatsApp had already talked about this option in 2017, although shortly after raising it, it was ruled out.

This same portal announced at the beginning of September that the instant messaging application was developing a format to update the messages sent using an edited version and recently shared a screenshot in which the result can be seen.
As warned in the new update 2.22.22.14 of WhatsApp for Android, released through the Google Play beta program, the text messages that have been modified will include the call sign Edited along with the new writing and the time of sending.

From WABetaInfo they have also pointed out that, once the text message has been sent, users will have a maximum time of 15 minutes to edit it and that the new version will reach the recipient.
However, you have been reminded that, as with the Delete for Everyone feature, WhatsApp does not guarantee that the modified message edits the original if the recipient does not turn on the device within a certain time. For example, in one day.

At the moment, this functionality is under development and its release date is unknown. Nor has it been advanced whether it will allow users to consult the modifications made, an option that Twitter does propose.
