The French spend an average of 36 minutes a day on the video platform, according to a study

Is YouTube supplanting TV? According to the August 2022 Comscore Video Metrics study published on Tuesday and taken up by The echoes, the French spend an average of thirty-six minutes a day on the Google video platform. It is thus the first video destination in France, even if the audience for Netflix or the TikTok application has not been analyzed, add our colleagues.

More than 20 million watch YouTube on TV

To carry out this survey, several media were taken into account: connected TVs, smartphones, computers and tablets. Thus, more than 20 million French people would watch YouTube on TV. In all, the platform “brings together nearly 40 million users over the age of 18 every month,” said YouTube France CEO Justine Ryst during a conference at the YouTube Festival.

In addition, according to another study carried out by the Oxford Economics Institute, the platform contributed 650 million euros to France’s GDP in 2021. And more than 20,000 full-time equivalent jobs would also be supported by the platform.
