Samsung launches the ‘maintenance mode’, the function that protects your information when you send your cell phone to the technician

The new privacy feature of Samsung for your devices Galaxy It is called ‘maintenance mode’ and has begun its deployment on the S21 and S22 smartphones, where users can already block access to their data while their devices are reviewed by technical teams.

Samsung has started the global rollout of ‘maintenance mode’ following a pilot program in Korea and the initial rollout in China. With this privacy feature, the tech company seeks to prevent users from worryingly handing over their devices for repair.

The ‘maintenance mode’ allows you to create a separate user account, so that technicians can operate the main functions but without being able to access the user’s private informationincluding photos, documents, and messages.

This mode also does not allow access to user-installed applications. As Samsung explains on its website, technicians will be able to download applications from the Galaxy Store, but these will be automatically deleted along with the data or accounts created as soon as the owner exits ‘maintenance mode’.

The global rollout of this privacy feature kicked off this Wednesday and will continue throughout 2023. It is already available on select Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 5 or later, including the Galaxy S21 and S22 series, though it will be expanded to more Models.
