The metaverse already has a police: Interpol will regulate internal cybercrime

Interpol, an organization against international crime, has begun to form a squad of police officers and experts in the metaverse. The entity presented thefirst Metaverse designed specifically for law enforcement worldwide”, which for the moment is called “Interpol Metaverse”. In the presentation video, a virtual replica of the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France can be seen.

The organization claims that its metaverse will help officials around the world connect through their avatars and train in forensic investigation, police skills, and more.

According to Interpol, by 2027, 40% of large companies will use web3 and augmented reality to invest in the metaverse. At the same time, they recognize that this new world of technology presents new security risks.

To many, the Metaverse seems to herald an abstract future, but the questions it raises are those that have always motivated Interpol: supporting our member countries in fighting crime and make the world, virtual or not, safer for those who inhabit it”, commented Jürgen Stock, general secretary of the entity.
