end to end encryption arrived at the end of 2020 to the individual conversations of Messages, at the same time that Google culminated the rollout of the rich messages RCS.

Specific, a reddit user has shared several screenshots of a group chat with participants from Google and Samsung messaging applications. In it, a notification appeared that the sent message was encrypted.
In 9to5Google they indicate that it is a early test, which will return the chat to its previous, unencrypted state. The open beta is still expected in the remainder of the year.
