Google: these are the most popular searches of Peruvians during 2022

The year 2022 is ending and Google advanced the list of searches that caused the most interest in Peruvians during these months of hectic political, economic, soccer content and curiosity about cases that impacted worldwide.

“The year in searches” is the title of this list, which works as a perspective of the main events of the period based on the fastest growing searches carried out in the country in different categories.

According to Google’s research in Peru, the term that led the trend of inquiries was “Food Voucher”. This initiative associated with responding to the crisis generated by the pandemic, also led users to the need to know if they were part of the favored group through the question “How do I know if I am a beneficiary of the Food Bonus?”.

That for the social side, but there were also other topics of interest around the political. Let us remember that this year the municipal elections were held. “Onpe” and “Where do I have to vote?” ranked 5 and 9 respectively in the general search list.

Peruvians also went to the Search Engine to find information associated with the elections and answer questions related to “How do I know if I am a board member?” Y “How to vote 2022?”.

Football and news

In the year of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, searches related to soccer could not be missing. The Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, the match between Peru vs Uruguay, La Liga 1 and the performance of FBC Melgar were the topics of conversation of the year and among the sports characters, Bryan Reyna stands out, considered the new figure of the Peruvian National Team.

On the news and entertainment side, Peruvians also closely followed the deaths of the actor and singer Diego Bertie, in August, and of Queen Elizabeth II, in September.

Other impactful issues that moved Peruvians were events such as the eruption of a volcano in Tonga and the progress of the war in Ukraine. At a local level, the transporter strike and the concerts by Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee and the British band Coldplay were the topics with the most recurring searches.

There was also space for entertainment. As for series and movies, “Doctor Strange” occupies the first place on the list. It is followed by the South Korean zombie series “We are dead”, the second season of which was recently announced. In third place was the latest installment of the “Jurassic World” saga.

How was this ranking made?

The company reported that the study is carried out on a set of more than one billion searches that people carried out on Google during the year. To do so, data from multiple sources was used, including the public platform Google Trends and other internal tools.

Then the procedure continues with spam filtering and repeat searches so that the lists reflect the true spirit of the year. At g.co/2022trends you can find the fastest growing terms in searches around the world.
