CES 2023: ASUS ROG presented the features of its new laptops up to 18 inches and Nvidia RTX 40 series

Asus ROG has presented new laptops and desktops from the Strix, Zephyrus, Flow series, which has been accompanied by a quad-band WiFi 7 router and a monitor that reaches a refresh rate of 540Hz.

The ‘For Those Who Dare: Maxed Out’ event, broadcast within the framework of the CES 2023 fair in Las Vegas (United States), has welcomed the Asus ROG news in gaming equipment from the series Strix, Zephyrus, Flow.

Asus ROG novelties in laptops include the new Strix SCAR 16 and 18, and ROG Strix G16 and G18. The company has highlighted the model Strix SCAR 18 (G834)a gaming station that transfers the power of a desktop computer to a laptop.

This equipment is the first of the ROG brand that incorporates a 18-inch Nebula Display, with a 240Hz QHD resolution. The ROG Strix SCAR is also available in 16-inch or 17-inch models, all featuring Dolby Vision HDR and NVIDIA G-SYNC.

The 16-inch and 18-inch models are powered by 13th-gen Intel Core i9-13980HX processors, while the Strix SCAR 17 packs up to an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 processor—the 16-inch model also offers a Mini LED display QHD 240Hz Nebula HDR.

All Strix models come equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU with Advanced Optimus and are designed for high refresh rate gaming. Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the CPU, Tri-Fan technology, full-surround vents, and intelligent cooling help drive better performance.

They’re also equipped with Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound and feature AI-powered two-way noise cancellation technology that filters out background noise on both input and output audio. They also come with a 64Wh or 90Wh battery, WiFi 6E connection and Ethernet port.

The series also incorporates the ROG Strix G22CH desktop, which features a compact 10-liter, airflow-optimized design that is compatible with air or liquid cooling. Works with the processor 13th Gen Intel Core i9 and the latest Nvidia RTX GPU.

ROG Zephyrus Series

Asus ROG has also updated the Zephyrus series with the new laptops Zephyrus G14, Zephyrus G16 and Zephyrus M16all featuring Dolby Atmos speakers, a multi-mode 3D microphone array, and AI-powered two-way noise cancellation.

Zephyrus G14 is a team of 14 inches featuring a Pantone-certified 165Hz ROG Nebula HDR Mini LED QHD display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. There are also versions in QHD at 165Hz or FHD at 144Hz.

It comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU and a 76Wr battery. To prevent overheating, this computer implements a cooling system that includes a vapor chamber that covers the CPU and GPU, a liquid metal thermal compound on the CPU, as well as two 84-blade Arc Flow Fans.

Zephyrus G16 includes a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor and up to a Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs for laptops. And it features an ROG Nebula Display with a 94 percent screen-to-body ratio and an enlarged 16:10 aspect ratio, as well as a 90Wh battery and HDMI 2.1.

The model Zephyrus M16which is powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor and up to a Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs. It packs a 240Hz, 3ms ROG Nebula HDR QHD Mini LED display with G-SYNC and a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio and 16:10 aspect ratio.

Zephyrus models have a 180-degree ErgoLift hinge and include a variety of ports, including a 100W USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 and power delivery, PD charging support, and WiFi 6E. Both the G16 and M16 come with Thunderbolt 4.

ROG Flow Series

ROG Flow series expands with ROG Flow X13which includes up to one AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU for laptops. It has a 360° convertible design, and for even more power, there’s an optional XG Mobile external GPU with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU for notebooks.

The CPU’s liquid metal compound and three dedicated cooling vents ensure maximum performance. It also comes with a 75Wh battery, 100W USB Type-C fast charging, and a 130W AC adapter.

ROG Flow X13 is available in two display options: Nebula 165Hz QHD or a 120Hz FHD panel that is Pantone Validated and offers Dolby Vision compatibility, a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass DXC touchscreen, G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus technology.

This series also introduces the new ROG Flow X16Powered by up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU for laptops, up to 2TB of storage PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD and up to 16 GB of DDR5-4800 memory with two upgradeable SO-DIMMs.

It uses a 1100 nit Nebula HDR LED mini display with up to 1024 individual dimming zones, QHD resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time and an extended 16:10 aspect ratio. It also has Pantone Validated color representation, a 100% DCI-P3 gamut, Dolby Vision HDR. It includes an HDMI 2.1 port and a USB4 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4.

The Tri-Fan cooling system comes with Arc Flow fans. Large recessed blade heat sinks cover maximum surface area. In addition, a liquid metal thermal compound is used in the CPU. There are also dust filters for consistent performance and stability.

The novelties of this series are completed with ROG Flow Z13a gaming tablet with Intel Core i9-13900H processor 13th-generation Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU for laptops with G-SYNC and DDS 2.0 support, all housed in a 12mm-thick chassis that weighs 1.1kg.

This kit features a 13-inch Nebula Display, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut with a 165Hz QHD panel. It offers high-quality Dolby Atmos sound, Hi-Res Audio, the smart amplifier, AI-powered two-way noise cancellation, and Thunderbolt 4 compatibility.

Accessories and peripherals

Asus ROG novelties also include a WiFi 7 quadband routerwhich takes advantage of 320MHz channels in the 6GHz band to achieve speeds up to 160 percent faster than the previous generation.

Asus has indicated that 4K QAM modulation can pack more data into streams, such that data rates peak up to 20 percent higher, at 25,000 MB/s.

He has also presented the ROG Swift Pro PG248QP monitor with a 540Hz refresh rate, which uses TN for eSports (E-TN) technology to provide 60 percent faster response times than standard TN panels. This monitor offers a diagonal of 24.5 inches and an FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
