Apple Books audiobooks will now be narrated by AI

Manzana has released the audio narration performed by the artificial intelligence on select titles in the Apple Books app.

Apple currently offers four voices geared toward specific genres: Madison and Jackson (romance and fiction); Helena and Mitchell (self-development and nonfiction).

With this initiative, the technology company would be trying to replace the human work of sitting in a studio and recording a narration, says TechCrunch. However, the process would not be as agile since the request would take between “one or two months to process the book and carry out quality controls,” says Apple.

For now, it is not known how much it would cost an author to request the digital narration of a book. But, TechCrunch predicts that when generative AI hits its peak, Apple would be the first to use it as a means of generating cash.
