Chrome browser adds ‘memory saver’ feature for inactivity in tabs

Google is preparing an adjustment for the ‘Memory saver’ feature of the browser Chromewith the goal that the user can configure the idle time of the tabs to suit the needs of their team.

Chrome has in its ‘Performance’ settings an option to save memory, which if activated, frees up memory for tabs that the user is not usingputting them in suspension. “This provides more compute resources to active tabs and other applications”helping the browser to work faster, as the company explains on its help page.

A new feature in testing allows you to set the amount of time that should elapse before the browser dismisses the tab and frees up memory, with options ranging from 1 minute to twelve hoursas shared by the user Leopeva64 and collected by Android Police.

In this way, with this new control that is already available as a ‘flag’ in the Canary version of Chrome, the user will be able to adjust the suspension of the tabs to the performance of their computer, instead of depending on a single default value.
