Air travel aboard eVTOLs, also known as flying cars or electric planes, seems to be closer to reality with Suzuki entering mass manufacturing starting in 2024.

The Japanese manufacturer has joined SkyDrive, which already has a project for eVTOL vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The deal was made public at the 2023 Paris Air Show.

According to the Hybrid and Electric page, the deal comes at a good time for SkyDrive, which needed advanced facilities to start mass production. For this, Suzuki will hand over its Shizuoka plant, in Japan.

But not only that. The automaker will also secure human resources and other preparations to start manufacturing. However, SkyDrive must also solve some issues such as the autonomy of only 15 kilometers.

From what is known, the vehicle has a capacity for three occupants (including the pilot), it has 12 rotors that reach a speed of 100km/h, although mass production would be for 2024, public access could take longer. time.
