Controversy over autonomous taxis: it only takes a traffic cone to boycott these vehicles

Sometimes not everyone can be satisfied with technology. This is what seems to be happening in San Francisco (USA) where by way of protest people have found a way to boycott the operation of the autonomous cars.

And it is that this city has become the main testing center, where the Cruise (General Motors) or Waymo (Alphabet, the Google company) robotaxis circulate, but with several problems that have delayed even the work of the firefighters.

A video on TikTok shows how the people of San Francisco have found a way to boycott the vehicle. What do they do? According to the Motor Pasión note, the user @safestreetrebel published that it is enough to place a traffic cone on top of the hood of the autonomous car to immobilize it.

What they point out about this action is that robotaxis promote a city designed for cars and not for people. What this does is move more money to adapt the city to cars and not to public transport, which is what citizens use the most.

Another of the doubts that have arisen revolves around information security and the right to privacy. They assure that Waymo and Cruise share the images recorded by their vehicles with the police, or that it could be in doubtful hands.

The latter assumption has been clarified by both companies, which claim to share images only in the event that a court order obliges them. Instead, the shortcomings of autonomous driving systems continue to arouse suspicion.
