The number of Threads users on Android drops by around 80% in the last month

Instagram’s ‘microblogging’ social network was launched by Goal at the beginning of July of this year in order to create an alternative where users share their ideas, opinions and creativity from text posts, in a very similar way to X (formerly Twitter).

Thus, a week after its release, Threads managed to reach 100 million subscribed accounts globallydespite the fact that it was not available in all countries, such as in the countries of the European Union.

However, despite its success, according to data from the Similarweb analysis portal, collected by The Verge, the number of active users of the Android platform has decreased by as much as 79% in the last month.

In other words, the data recorded on July 7 by Similarweb indicates that the ‘app’ for Android had 49.3 million daily active users. Now, The figures collected on August 7 indicate that, during the last month, the daily active users of Threads for Android have been reduced to 10.3 million users.

Therefore, Meta’s social network has suffered a drop of practically 80% of daily active users on Android.

This decrease is also shown in the time of use of the ‘app’. According to Similarweb, the average amount of daily time active users spend on the app has been reduced to a total of three minutes. In contrast, at the time Threads was launched, the average daily time that users spent on the social network was approximately 14 minutes globally.
