Windows 11 update triggers blue screen of death for “unsupported processor”

The most recent update of Windows 11 is causing an error that shows the so-called ‘blue screen of death’ on computers that integrate MSI motherboards, which this company is already investigating together with Microsoft.

Microsoft released update KB5029351, build 22621.2215, earlier this week, which introduces a series of improvements and fixes detected in previous versions, although it also causes a bug, which affected users began to alert.

After its installation, some people, including a journalist from The Verge, experienced a blue screen of death with the error message “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR”which Microsoft began investigating when it became aware of them.

The error is also being investigated by MSI, as it has been detected that the failure affects computers with Intel processors mounted on boards of this firmof the 600 and 700 series, as confirmed in a statement shared on its website.

To avoid the error, they advise against installing the update. In case you have already installed it, and as a temporary measure, they point out that the update itself should be able to be uninstalled automatically, but if this is not the case, they advise reverting the BIOS to its previous version to uninstall manually.
