To colonize the Moon you need oxygen and NASA has discovered the key at the lunar south pole

It is not a secret that there is great interest from world powers in the south pole of the Moon, and if you want to colonize the natural satellite, there is a key in this area: oxygen, and POT is working on this aspect.

The United States space agency has outlined a plan to make a space base possible. This is the Lunar South Pole Oxygen Pipeline (L-SPoP) project: setting up a pipeline capable of channeling oxygen and taking it to a liquefaction and storage plant near a lunar base.

Other countries that have set their eyes on this area are Russia and China. Even India claimed to have reached the lunar south pole with its Chandrayaan-3 space mission.

According to a report on the Xataka website, NASA has investigated the environment and it is key for human habitats, life support systems for astronauts, rovers or even vehicles that leave the Moon.

Now, this is not the only way to supply oxygen. NASA is also evaluating taking it where necessary. However, for the agency “the transportation of this oxygen in exploration vehicles consumes more energy than the extraction process.”

For this reason, an oxygen pipeline is planned at the South Pole of the Moon, for which technologies must be evaluated, in addition to drawing up a roadmap. It would be a five-kilometer gas pipeline to transport gaseous oxygen from a production source.
