In the midst of the digital age, Kodak presents a film camera that costs more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max

Are film cameras really a thing of the past? In the digital age in which a smartphone can combine all the characteristics of a camera, Kodak has launched the Super 8 Camera, which even surpasses the iPhone 15 Pro Max in cost.

At the moment you can reserve the camera on the Kodak website, for a cost of US$5,495, exceeding in cost not only any high-end smartphone, but many professional cameras.

According to a report from El Español-Omícrono, this equipment was announced in 2016, and had a suggested price that did not exceed 1,000 euros. Today has exceeded all expectations.

Because? One of the reasons, obviously, is technology: the Kodak Super 8 has not only options for exchanging lenses, but also digital functions typical of modern cameras.

It is a look at the past and the future. On the one hand, Super 8 is a variation of a format that uses 8 millimeters wide film, conceived in 1932 by Eastman Kodak. This is how video recording was brought to the home environment.

Already in the 80s this type of camera was replaced. Today it is relaunched with increased definition, the ability to remove and replace the film cartridge, making it easier to load, etc. Although now one of the problems is getting the film.

The report indicates that the camera itself comes with a KODAK Super 8 cartridge, loaded with up to 15 meters of professional and cinematographic film. Additionally, it is possible to choose between several negative films, either Kodak Vision3 color or TRI-X black and white.

The idea is that this Kodak Super 8 has not only options for exchanging lenses, but also digital functions typical of modern cameras. For example, you can use an external monitor thanks to its HDMI output and save footage to SD cards, among other benefits. And those are by no means its only surprises.
