Samsung smartphones show a green line on the screen after a software update

Various mobile phone users Samsung have reported problems in different models of the brand (S20, S21 and S22 Ultra series, among others), which show a straight green line on their screen that crosses it from top to bottom, which could be due to an error in the latest update of its ‘software’.

The appearance of green lines on a device panel can be due to different problems. For example, to hardware failures, to the fact that there is an installed application that is causing it, or to the fact that your software has an error.

Several users of mobile phones manufactured by the South Korean brand have shared images of a vertical green line, indicating that it appeared just after updating their devices with the latest version of its software.

Among those affected, mainly from India, are owners of the Samsung models S20 Series, Note20/Ultra, S21 Series (except FE) and S22 Ultra (SM-S908E), as detailed by one of them, Tarun Vats, who has contacted the firm’s technical service.

Although the origin of this error has not been confirmed, Sasmung India support has offered users free replacement of their screens in this country, a solution aimed exclusively at these models, as long as they are within three years after the date of purchase.

The support service has also noted that “Samsung has decided to consider the problem of the line on the screen, even if the warranty has expired and there is no damage,” whether physical or the result of contact with water.

Android Authority has commented that users with this problem have until April 30, 2024 to book an appointment with the company’s technical service and change this panel for free. They have also indicated that the company will also offer a free battery replacement along with the new screen.
