NASA says it has restored contact with Voyager 1

News from our space conqueror. The Voyager 1 probe, mankind’s furthest object from Earth, has transmitted readable data for the first time in five months, NASA said Monday.

However, contact with this probe, launched 46 years ago and now located about 24 billion kilometers from us, appears to have been lost. He has not sent reliable scientific and technical data on his condition since November, the American space agency explained.

However, NASA teams were still able to send orders to it, and the probe continued to operate as normal. The problem arose from a chip in one of the onboard computers, which is responsible for formatting scientific and technical data before sending it to Earth. Finally, an ingenious solution was found to move the necessary code.

NASA was able to test the spacecraft for the first time since November and will continue to use the same solution to recover science data.

With its twin Voyager 2 (located approximately 20 billion km from Earth), this probe is the only one traveling in interstellar space. They carry on board recordings of sounds and images of the Earth on gold and copper records.
