Telegram exceeds 1,000 million installations in the Play Store

The messaging app Telegram has exceeded 1 billion installations this weekend alone on Google’s official software platform for Android mobiles, the Play Store.

Google has updated the download figure for the Telegram page in the Play Store, which previously reported that it was more than 500 million and that since this weekend it has gathered that it exceeds 1,000 million installations.

The exceeding of this installation threshold occurs a few days after the fall of Facebook services that affected its eponymous social network, Instagram and WhatsApp, and went on for several hours into the afternoon and night of October 4.

Just 24 hours after the crash, Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that Telegram had experienced “record” growth with the arrival of 70 million new users in a single day.
