Tatamel Bike: the folding scooter that you can store under your desk

In recent years, it is not unusual to see, in some modern city office, someone working at a desk next to which they parked a folding bike. In a while you could get to see, too, a folded electric motorcycle, the Tatamel Bike.

An alternative that the manufacturers found is, precisely, to do folding vehicles, both so that they do not occupy as much space at home as to have them close – and safe – in an office.

Now the Japanese manufacturer Icoma wants to do the same with motorcycles, and presented an electric scooter that, when folded, is less than 70 cm high: it transforms into a kind of suitcase that, ideally, will be stored under the desk while we work.

It is a 100% urban motorcycle: with a maximum speed of 40 km / h, a range of 50 kilometers and a 12,000 mAh battery. It has front and rear LED lights, and wood-look side panels, which, according to the manufacturer, can be customized. When folded it measures 70 x 680 x 26 cm. The company has not set its price to the public yet.

It seems, however, a more reliable alternative than Poimo, the inflatable electric motorcycle that made the news a year ago, precisely because it has a structure made of air and a similar ultimate goal: that it can be stored in a small space when not in use. That design, from the University of Tokyo, implements a similar technique to create a wheelchair with airtight fabric and an inflator; the intention of its creators is to be able to offer an object for occasional use that does not require allocating a lot of space for storage.
