The replacement smartphone loaned to customers will now be an iPhone XR

A small boost of modernity in Apple’s stores and repair shops. The Apple brand has decided to change the iPhone model loaned to customers whose smartphone must be kept for a few days or weeks to be repaired.

Until now, Apple Store employees have lent a courtesy iPhone 8 to customers so that they do not find themselves without a phone until theirs is ready. A model released in 2017 and already too old and slow for some tech buffs. In an internal memo sent to the firm’s American employees and relayed by 9to5Mac, Apple therefore decided to change.

14 days to return iPhone

From now on, it is an iPhone XR which will be loaned to the unfortunate customers the time of the repair. Released in 2018 with the iPhone XS, this model is already no longer sold in stores, where it is the iPhone 12 and 13 that are now highlighted, as well as the older iPhone SE and 11, recallsLemon Juicer. The only requirement for this courtesy loan is to return the smartphone no later than 14 days after being notified that your phone is ready to be collected.

On its site, Apple recalls that it is strongly recommended to reset and delete all data on the loaned iPhone before bringing it back to the store. The new formula will probably be implemented very quickly in the American Apple Stores, then gradually in the other countries where the Apple brand is present.
