CES 2022 | Lenovo suspends its face-to-face participation in the event due to Omicron variant

The technology company Lenovo has announced that it will not participate in person at the most important international consumer electronics fair in the world, CES 2022, due to the increase in the number of infections by Covid-19.

Lenovo has made this absence known at the next congress to be held in Las Vegas (United States), which will take place from January 5 to 8, through Twitter. In this social network, he has indicated what his decision has been after analyzing the current situation derived from the pandemic.

“After closely monitoring the current circumstances surrounding Covid-19, the best thing for the health and safety of our employees, customers, partners, and our communities is to suspend all activity in Las Vegas.”, has indicated in a publication.

Despite having indicated that they will not be part of CES 2022 in person, the company has insisted that its launch schedule will remain as planned, albeit virtually.

“Even though there has been a change in plans, we are very excited to show you our latest technology as scheduled on January 4th and 5th.”, has added the company in the thread of these publications.

In this way, Lenovo joins the list of technology companies that have declined their in-person invitation to CES 2022 due to the growing number of infections. Among them, Twitter, Meta (Facebook’s parent company) or Amazon, which have ensured that they will not participate in the fair.

Like Lenovo, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg has indicated in statements collected by Europa Press its participation in virtual mode.

“We will participate virtually as much as possible and will continue to collaborate with the CTA around the CES, which continues to be an important event for Meta, our clients and industry partners”, a spokesperson mentioned.
