CES 2022: ROG introduces its first gaming tablet, Flow Z13, and renews its dual-screen Zephyrus Duo 16

Republic of Gamers (ROG), the brand of ‘gaming’ devices from Asus, has announced the novelties of its catalog within the framework of CES 2022, among which its first tablet for video games, Flow Z13, and the renewal of its dual-screen laptop, Zephyrus Duo 16, stand out.

ROG’s range of devices has been updated for 2022 with new products that in all cases are equipped with webcams, panel upgrades and steam chambers to improve cooling, as Asus has reported.

Among the novelties, the first tablet ‘gaming’ from Asus ROG stands out, which becomes a new member of the Flow family of convertible devices. It is a device that the company has described as “the most powerful gaming tablet in the world.”

The Flow Z13 tablet includes the detachable keyboard, with keys with a 1.7mm travel. The keyboard design makes it liftable, although it can also be used in clamshell mode, similar to a laptop.

This computer works with Windows 11, latest generation Intel processors (14-core i9-12900H) and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics units, to which are added specifications such as up to 32GB of LPDDR5 or 1TB of Gen 4 SSD.

The ‘gaming’ features of ROG Flow Z13 are completed with support for the ROG XG Mobile peripheral, designed to achieve higher performance in video games, as well as a vapor chamber on the GPU and CPU that improves ventilation at the rear.

The design of the equipment stands out for a profile with 12 millimeters thick and 1.1 kilograms of weight, although it has room for a battery with up to 100 hours of autonomy and 100W fast charging technology.

The ROG Flow tablet screen has dimensions of 13 inches, aspect ratio of 16:10 and has two options: 4K resolution and refresh rate at 60Hz, or FHD resolution with a higher rate of 120Hz. Add to that 500 nits of brightness, support for Dolby Vision and the Asus Pen stylus.

Its functions are completed with a front camera ‘webcam’ and an additional rear camera, as well as a power button with fingerprint reader.

ROG ZEPHYR DUO 16

ROG’s Zephyrus gaming series of laptops is another one to get new at CES 2022 with the announcement of the Zephyrus Duo 16, the successor to its 2021 dual-screen model, the Zephyrus Duo 15.

The new Zephyrus laptop improves the viewing angle of the second screen, which can be raised and slid back to meet the main panel thanks to a new four-way hinge. “It is the most important hinge work we have done,” the company assured.

Your computer has two options for the main screen, both with Dolby Vision. The first is Nebula HDR, which adds 512 Mini LED dimming zones to reach 1,100 nits of brightness and 165 hertz of refreshment.

The second option is Dual Spec, a dedicated screen capable of switching between 4K at 120Hz and Full HD at 240 hertz, depending on the needs of gamers.

Internally, the dual-screen computer is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX series processor and 150W Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics. It also has up to 16GB DDR5, 4TB of SSD Gen 4, 90Wh battery with 200W fast charge (100W via USB C), six speakers and an infrared camera compatible with Windows Hello.

For gaming use, ROG has included a thermally ducted design with a 0.7 millimeter higher fan height, with up to 15 degrees lower on the CPU. It also has a specific channel for dust extraction.

ZEPHYRUS G14 DE 2022

ROG’s family of ‘gaming’ laptops is also growing with an additional model, the new Zephyrus G14 from 2022. This computer, with a black or white design, makes use of a 16:10 aspect display panel that occupies a higher ratio of the frontal (91%).

Zephyrus G14 uses a Nebula panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness, as well as 3ms response time. To this is added sound by means of a ‘tweeter’ type speaker on the upper part and also ‘woofers’, as well as a front camera with infrared.

Asus has endowed this team of the ROG family with an AMD Ryzen 9 chip and AMD Radeo RX 6000S graphics for video games. Another novelty ‘gaming’ is MUX Switch, a switch controlled by ‘software’ to better manage the integrated graphics card and the dedicated one according to use (it can provide more battery or increase performance in video games).

The design of the new Zephyrus notebook features 0.3mm led lights on the rear matrix. The new matrix system is capable of placing 20 percent more LEDs than the 2021 model.

To control the temperature, Asus has incorporated a steam chamber with a passive thermodynamic circuit at low temperature, with condensers on the outside and insulation in the area of ​​the plate.

This cooling system uses a liquid metal with higher transfer capacity and with up to five years of durability. This is complemented by the double fans that it equips inside.

STRIX SCAR Y STRIX G

Likewise, the Asus brand has announced at CES 2022 new models of its series of gaming laptops ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G15 and G17.

ROG Strix SCAR is designed especially for eSports gamers and is equipped with the Windows 11 Pro system, 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900H processor and a 150W Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU.

The computer is available in 15-inch and 17-inch models. In the first case, you can choose between IPS screens of three types: 240 Hz QHD, 300 Hz Full HD and 165 Hz QHD. In the second, you can choose between 240 Hz QHD or 360 Hz Full HD .

All versions include Dolby Vision HDR and Adaptive-Sync technology, as well as a 3 ms response time and a larger ‘touchpad’ and dot matrix with new RBG lighting.

For its part, the new ROG Strix G15 and G17 stand out for specifications such as the use of an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU at 150W, with the same screen options as the SCAR series (except QHD of 165 Hz).

All new Strix models feature a four-speaker design with Dolby Atmos spatial sound to produce 3D sound, as well as WiFi 6E connectivity and a fast-charging 100W 90Wh USB-C battery.
