“This is not the Church of God”: A man shouts interrupts the general audience of Pope Francis

Today a man shouted at the general audience that was celebrating the Pope Francisco in the Paul VI classroom and had to be accompanied outside by agents of the Vatican Gendarmerie, while the leader of the Catholic Church asked to pray for him “because he was suffering.”

During the traditional Wednesday audience, attended by thousands of people, a man between 40 and 50 years old began to shout in English, interrupting the pope, who was reading his catechesis.

This is not the Church of God”, he said, waving a black mask, among other phrases that were not understood.

According to some of those present, the visibly upset man was shouting against the use of masks in the Church and against the pontiff, although it was not perfectly heard, but it was appreciated that he removed his facial protection in front of those present.

He was finally escorted out of the room without resistance by members of the Vatican Gendarmerie.

The Pope then asked “to pray for this brother who suffers.” “Scream because you suffer”, he added and asked the faithful present to pray a “hail mary” for him.
