Department of Defense spokesman, John KirbyHe said at a press conference that Russia “It could produce a graphic propaganda video, with corpses and actors pretending to be people in mourning, with images of destroyed areas, as well as military equipment in the hands of Ukraine or the West.”

In that sense, these weapons could be represented in such a way that they appear to have been supplied by the West to UkraineKirby noted.

The spokesman reiterated that the US has information about Moscow’s attempts to fabricate a pretext to invade Ukraine.

“One option is that the Russian government plans to fake a false attack by the Ukrainian military or intelligence forces against sovereign Russian territory or against Russian-speakers to justify its actions.”He said.

Tension has skyrocketed in the last month due to the mobilization of more than 100,000 Russian soldiers on the border with Ukrainewhich has led to the US and Russia to engage in a propaganda battle.

Moscow has repeated on several occasions that it does not want a war with Kiev and that it does not threaten Ukraine, while Washington has been warning for days of an “imminent” attack, although this Wednesday it backed down and chose to speak of a possible Russian aggression “in any moment”.

Yesterday, the Pentagon announced the deployment “in the next few days” of 3,000 soldiers in Romania, Poland and Germany to strengthen the defenses of its allies against a possible Russian attack on Ukraine.
